compare and contrast: My Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day: Then vs. Now
Valentine’s Day in the past and this year were very different experiences for me. In previous years, I spent the day alone. There were no gifts, no surprises, and no special moments—just scrolling through social media and seeing everyone else celebrate. It felt quiet and a little lonely, and I often wondered when I would have my own reason to celebrate.
This year, however, was different. I finally had someone to think about on Valentine’s Day. I sent her a small gift—not anything big or fancy—but enough to show I cared. Even though we weren’t together, it felt meaningful to do something for someone special. The day didn’t feel empty like it used to; it felt a little brighter and more exciting.
Comparing the two, past Valentine’s Days taught me patience and self-love, while this year reminded me that even small gestures can make a difference. The old days were quiet and lonely, but this year brought a sense of connection and purpose—even from a distance. It showed me that Valentine’s isn’t just about being with someone; it’s about sharing thoughtfulness and making someone smile
